The Robot designed by the Bharath University team is a Humanoid Robot, which is 58 cms long and weighs 4.3 kgs. It has 25 degrees of freedom. The Humanoid robot can dance, sing, walk, sit, stand up, pick objects, Do face recognition and path tracking to mention a few. The innovative approach that Bharat University students and Roboin did on the Humanoid robot was the simple manipulation of the Touch sensors on the Leg of the robot, as it wanted the robot to recognize the obstacles on its path and use the camera for face recognition. Successfully, the robot was able to identify people based on the presets given.

Apart from Bharat University, there were around 66 other universities who had presented their Robotic creations in the preceding few months.

Apart from Spring Innovations, the students also participated in Singapore RoboticGames 2011 competition, in the open category, which gave them a very good experience to compete with countries like Singapore, China and Indonesia.

Mr. Jaishankar Bharatharaj, Founder of Roboin, under whose guidance the students worked,  says  “Roboin has always been in search of

young innovative minds to engage in the field of robotics. We train and engage students in the field of Robotics to design humanoid robots. We have participated in many Roboticcompetitions representing India and winning honors. We are proud that we have built India’s one of first Humanoid Robot.”

Recently, the students also conducted a live demonstration of the Humanoid robot which entitled them this prestigious recognition at Singapore.
